Aged care spaces need to be warm, inviting and thoughtfully designed to support both comfort and community, just like a home. At Arcare Templestowe, these values were at the heart of the project and SUPAWOOD was proud to play a part in bringing that vision to life.
The first impression of the new facility designed by Via Architects is unforgettable. Walking into Arcare Templestowe, residents and visitors are welcomed with a sense of space, light and refinement. A soaring pitched ceiling, striking geometric lighting and a palette of natural textures come together to create an atmosphere of sophistication and calm. The rich timber finishes create a warm and inviting environment that redefines aged care living.
SUPAWOOD supplied SUPASLAT ceiling panels finished in SUPAFINISH Blackbutt and chosen for their ability to soften acoustics as well as elevate the design aesthetic. With the slatted panels being installed as part of an integrated ceiling system, this resulted in reduced reverberation whilst adding warmth and texture to the interior of the Home.
Every design choice at Arcare Templestowe reflects a commitment to resident wellbeing. The timber slatted ceiling adds a natural warmth thereby softening the large open areas whilst still maintaining a sense of contemporary elegance.
By drawing on principles of biophilic design, the use of timber introduces a connection to nature that is proven to reduce stress, support cognitive function and promote emotional comfort which are especially important in aged care environments. This helps to make the facility into more than just a care home. It becomes a nurturing living space that fosters tranquillity and vitality.
