The new Physics, Astronomy and Engineering (PAE) Building at Macquarie University is a leading education and research facility designed to encourage collaboration, innovation and engagement. SUPAWOOD was proud to contribute a range of customised timber lining and acoustic solutions that support the building’s contemporary architectural vision.
Throughout The Forum, SUPALINE in SUPAFINISH Blackbutt was used for feature stair linings and wall treatments, while Natural Timber Veneer Blackbutt SUPALINE panels were installed as conduit cladding and soffit linings across multiple levels.
In key learning and presentation spaces, including The Forum and Amphitheatre, SUPACOUSTIC panels in SUPAFINISH Blackbutt deliver both acoustic performance and visual impact. Custom triangular ceiling panels, integrated access hatches and large-format ceiling segments were manufactured to meet the project’s unique design requirements.
A standout feature is the Ground Floor soffit, where SUPALINE ETCH panels in Natural Timber Veneer Blackbutt showcase custom-machined Aboriginal artwork, adding cultural significance and a distinctive architectural element to the space.
Completing the design, MAXI BEAM elements in SUPAFINISH Blackbutt were incorporated into The Forum ceiling, with angled beams concealing panel joints and enhancing the geometric ceiling form.
“It was good working with SUPAWOOD again for another successful project in Macquarie University. Thanks for all the effort and patience you and your team have given to complete this project.”.
