Prominent façade upgrade succeeds with Aluminium beams
At 369 Ann St, a prominent address in Brisbane’s CBD, SUPAWOOD’s ALUCLICK beams have helped in the upgrade of a tired façade into a contemporary look which brings the building out of the 1980’s and takes it into the future.
The designers, Harry Poulos Architects, were given the brief to upgrade the extensive frontage as part of the building’s refurbishment. For this a product was sought to break up the bleak use of concrete, that would be long lasting and hard wearing, yet had exceptional aesthetic qualities.
ALUCLICK aluminium beams proved to be the ideal choice.
The building’s main entry court has been transformed to provide the ground floor café with an alfresco dining area which wraps around under the staggered portico. Here the ALUCLICK beams have been used to decorate the bases of the columns. Low soffits over the stairs on the corner of the building have been lined underneath with ALUCLICK beams and integrated lighting.

From the entry the ALUCLICK beams, again with integrated lighting, line the underside of the concrete awning which continues from the entry around into Wharf Street. Here the wall along the footpath has also been lined and continue down until they change into an open wall screen to hide the ground floor of the carpark. To add further interest on the wall and screens, the mixed profile ALUCLICK beams have been used and unevenly spaced.
The finish, SUPAMETAL Anodised Commercial Bronze, was chosen to coordinate with the finish on the existing windows. This has then been further enhanced by adding matching highlight paintwork.
The façade upgrade of this building shows how ALUCLICK aluminium beams can be coordinated with and installed over existing elements to achieve an outstanding transformation economically.
