SUPAWOOD products have been chosen by many designers for use in their BER program school projects but one of the most impressive to date is the new multi-award winning hall at Cathedral School in Bathurst. This project is a perfect example of how SUPACOUSTIC PLK fixing panel lining kits can be used to their fullest to create a stunning yet highly practical and durable interior.

Building Designer and Project Supervisor, Steve Anderson of Steve Anderson Building Design, Bathurst selected SUPACOUSTIC PLK Fixing as it provided the desired colours, detailed finish and acoustic properties. This has undoubtedly contributed to the project being awarded the Building Designers Association of NSW 2012 Building Design Award for Public Buildings/Structures as well as winning the 2012 Master Builders Award for Excellence - Private Schools up to $5.0m.

At Cathedral school, Steve Anderson has combined SUPACOUSTIC PLK Fixing in 3 different finishes. Slotted and solid panels have been used in SUPAFINISH White on the vast ceiling expanse of the hall to achieve high light reflectance to make the space feel bigger and much more open. On the walls solid SUPAFINISH Tasmanian Oak panels are used to compliment the brickwork. The stage area has been cleverly defined by use of contrasting solid panels in SUPAFINISH Smooth Mahogany which tone in with the curtains.

The new multi-purpose facility includes state-of-the-art sound and lighting, a full size stage and basketball court. These allocated roles required that the designer selected a lining product that was not only extremely hard wearing and easy to maintain but also satisfied the acoustic properties required for such a lively interior.

Not only did the choice of SUPACOUSTIC PLK Fixing achieved these design brief needs but came within the school’s budget restraint. SUPACOUSTIC PLK Fixing is an affordable acoustic lining system which comes in kit form with its own fixing system and therefore also saves on installation time and costs.

As described by the builder, Alan Vermeer of Hines Construction of Bathurst - “The Supawood panels have given this project a smart finish and lifted the entire final project.”
