Bespoke acoustic timber veneer panels for walls and ceilings

SUPACOUSTIC and SUPALINE decorative bespoke natural timber veneer panels feature throughout the wall and ceiling linings of the O’Regan Arts and Cultural Common Building at Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College in North Sydney NSW.

The new state of the art facility designed by Brewster Hjorth Architects forms an extension to a heritage building and has been built partially underground in a very compact area. The building houses a main foyer, music classrooms, a 300 seat theatre and support areas.

In all these areas it was imperative the designers focussed on achieving superior acoustics with quality linings but aesthetics also needed consideration. SUPAWOOD were chosen for their panelling expertise, technical support and quality consistent finishes.

A mix of acoustic perforated, slotted and solid panels finished in SUPAVENEER timber veneer mismatched Blackbutt NTV are used throughout the building. The consistency of the finish creates continuity from one space to another.

The foyer, a small light filled atrium, is dominated by a 3D wall of perforated acoustic and solid panels. Under the stairs the kiosk utility area is cleverly hidden by a wall of solid panelled bi-fold doors.

Hanging staircases from the foyer to the other levels are lined with slotted acoustic panels underneath and solid panels on the balustrades. The stairs lead to the classrooms where slotted acoustic panel ceilings add warmth to the spaces.

The richness of the timber in the theatre is awe inspiring. The side wall solid panels form large 3D honeycomb shapes centred with light wells. Lining the back sculptured wall and the ceiling are perforated acoustic panels installed around utilities.

SUPAWOOD offered the support structure to enable a relatively inexperienced installer to install a very difficult set of panels defect free and therefore minimise installation costs.

This is an example of how SUPAWOOD timber veneer acoustic and decorative wall and ceiling panels can achieve immense atmosphere throughout a variety of spaces.
